Symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Common signs of polycystic ovary syndrome may include the following symptoms:

• Menstrual periods are irregular, occurring more than 35 days apart, or menstruating no more than 6-8 times per year.
• A missed period that does not occur for more than 3 consecutive periods in women with regular menstrual periods or does not occur for 6 consecutive months in women with irregular menstrual periods indicates chronic anovulation.
• Irregular or excessive menstrual bleeding can cause abnormal thickening of the lining of the uterus.
• Excessive body hair growth due to abnormalities of male hormones in the body. Women with polycystic have body hair similar to that of men. Hair grows long and abundantly on various parts of the body, such as the chest, back, lips, upper arms, and thighs.
• Acne appears on the body, chest, back and face due to hormonal imbalance.
• Diagnosed with polycystic ovaries on ultrasound
• Being overweight or gaining weight can lead to insulin resistance and increase symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Causes of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

The exact cause of polycystic ovary syndrome is unknown. It may be caused by many factors, such as:

• Insulin resistance Insulin is a hormone that the pancreas makes to control blood sugar levels. When the body is insulin resistant, the pancreas ยูฟ่าเบท produces more of this hormone. This process stimulates the ovaries to produce more of the male hormone androgen. As a result, the body stops ovulating and other symptoms of polycystic (PCOS) follow.
